RAY Bishop topped the weight in one of the most productive River Wye outings that Malvern Angling Club have had at Bredwardine.

Although the river was at its lowest level for many years, it didn't put the fish off as seven anglers weighed in double figures. Fishing the far bank with a waggler float rig, Ray caught small chub and dace throughout the match to weigh in 23lbs 4oz.

Only one pound behind in second place came Ken Yates using a stick float his swim didn't come alive until the later stages of the match when he caught chub and dace to weigh in at 22lbs 4 oz.

Second last year Dave Twigg produced another good weight on the stick float, catching dace and bleak to weight in at 17lbs 3oz. In fourth place John Shaw had an explosive start taking five chub on ledgered bread in the first hour, weighing in at 15lbs 12 oz, the best fish at 4lb 4oz before his swim died.

Dennis Flanagan had 14lbs 12oz of float fish chub most in the last hour, Jerry Thomas also caught late on to weigh in at 13lbs 13oz with Ian Goddard taking 13lbs 8oz of bleak.

Next River Wye outing is to Symonds Yat on October 20, meet at the Little Chef at 8am.
