JANE Austen's classic tale Emma comes to the Everyman Theatre, Cheltenham later this month.

A comedy of confusions, errors and embarrassments, the stage adaptation stars Laura Howard as Emma, a pretty, witty and wealthy girl who is at her best planning other people's lives but never her own.

Brian Deacon (Neil Kincaid in Emmerdale), as Mr Knightley, and Jonathan Cecil (Hastings in Poirot), as Mr Woodhouse, co-star.

The play runs from Monday, October 21, to Saturday, October 26.
