A letter was received from Mr Alexander Minehead, of the Temperance Hotel, Red Lion Bank, complaining of a nuisance at the rear of his premises, caused through the brewing of beer at an adjacent establishment, and asking the council to take the necessary steps to abate it. A petition from several ratepayers in the vicinity with reference to the matter was also presented. Malvern Gazette, October 10, 1902.

In aid of waifs and strays, a sale of work will be held in the Hope End Schoolroom, on Saturday next, commencing at 2.30pm. The Rev J Grosvenor Monro will give an address. There will also be a jumble sale in aid of the organist's fund. Ledbury Free Press, October 14, 1902.

Twenty tons of hay were destroyed in a rick fire at the farm of Mr J Beard, Interfields. Malvern Fire Brigade attended. About the same time, other Malvern firemen were called to fight an outbreak on the North Hill involving about an acre of gorse and undergrowth. Malvern Gazette, October 10, 1952.

Members of Ledbury Amateur Dramatic Society were naturally very glad to relax on Saturday night, after the strenuous work of presenting Blythe Spirit on four successive nights at the Camp Theatre. Perhaps, someday, if they ever tackle Shakespeare, we shall see the witches of Macbeth on stage there. Ledbury Reporter, October 17, 1952.

Roger Tolchard, the England cricketer and an old Malvernian, will be among the guests of honour at the official opening of Malvern College's new sports hall on Saturday morning. The hall, which cost £125,000, will be officially opened by Lady Holland-Martin, widow of the former chairman of the college council. Malvern Gazette, October 13, 1977.

With the closure after a quarter of a century of the Holt Children's Home in Ross Road, Ledbury, the superintendent, Mr Victor Phillips, writes to express his and his wife's gratitude for all that many local people and organisations have done to help the children over the years.
