LEDBURY Exhausts have made a good start to their Whatley Recordon Malvern Table Tennis Division Two season by taking seven points off the two Crackpots teams.

Ray Cooke led the way with six wins out of six. Stewart Moss won five and John Meredith four, Colin Dolding won two and Nick Gilbert one to give Crackpots E a point in their match against Exhausts.

The match of the week was between two of the Manor Park teams, Wombats and Travellers. Six of the ten games went to a deciding set and a total of 44 sets were played with 16 being won by only two points. The match could have gone either way but was eventually won 7-3 by the visitors. Ken Hipwell, Martin Snee and Bob Atyeo each won two for Travellers, whilst Tony Bird (two) and Richard Bennet earned a point for Wombats.

CSSC Trojans have picked up two wins from their opening matches. In both matches they made a slow start. Dave Steen (two) and Nick Haggar put Manor Park Rangers 3-1 ahead and then the following week David Smith and Bill Nelson gave Malvern Juniors A a 2-1 lead before wins for Dave Backhurst, Dave Hayes and Rob Redden turned the matches in the favour of Trojans.

The Juniors have lost both their matches but will be heartened by two wins for David Smith over seasoned campaigners David Back-hurst (Trojans) and Roger Davies (Upton). James Clarke was unfortunate to lose several games in the fifth set. In their match with Upton Roger Davies and Pete Nash each won two and Matt Jones won his first match before having to retire injured during his second.

Manor Park Rangers have started this season better than last. Three wins from Dave Steen and two from Nick Haggar plus the doubles together enabled them to beat Broadheath Belters for whom Pete Roberts and Roger Bates won one each and David Elliott two.

The opening week of the season saw two draws. Colin Dolding was unbeaten and James Palmer and Pete Harrold won one each against Travellers for whom Bob Atyeo won two and Martin Snee and Ken Hipwell one apiece.

Three wins for Tony Bird and two for Richard Bennet helped the new look Wombats share the spoils with Broadheath. Again David Elliott won two and Pete Roberts and Roger Bates one each.

RESULTS: Ledbury Exhaust 10, Crackpots B 0; Manor Park Travellers 5, Crackpots E 5; Broadheath Belters 5, Manor Park Wombats 5; CSSC Trojans 7, Manor Park Rangers 3; Upton 6, Malvern Juniors A 4; Malvern Juniors A 2, CSSC Trojans 8; Manor Park Rangers 6, Broadheath Belters 4; Manor Park Wombats 3, Manor Park Travellers 7; Crackpots E 4, Ledbury Exhaust 6.

IN Division Three, Police's whitewashing at the hands of Nomads, who comprised Tony Hughes, Adrian Fray and Kevin Howard, was counterbalanced by the victory over Maulers.

Alan Holmes and Malcolm Dalley won all their singles and the doubles and Ralph Cook two singles. Bromyard Logics did not concede a point against either Maulers or Manor Park Juniors. John Hunt and Derek Craddock were unbeaten and Chris Daniels only dropped two singles.

Abbey College had mixed fortunes with a three point win over Juniors C but must have been pleased to get a point from the stronger youngsters of the Junior B team. In spite of only having had two players available Abbeydowne managed to take three points from Juniors C. The match of the week must be the win that Manor Park Juniors managed against Abbeydowne. Notable were Jack Higgs' wins over Roy Holland and Bill Lucas and he only lost to Peter Denniss 11-13 in the fifth game. Ben Salisbury beat Peter 14-12 in the fifth and Roy Holland 13-11 in the third. Mark Griffiths picked up one singles and Ben and Mark a straight three games doubles.
