THIRD Division Hull City have confirmed the appointment of Peter Taylor as their new manager.

The former England caretaker coach replaces Jan Molby who left the club last night after a poor start to the season by the Tigers.

Taylor, who returns to club management after leaving Brighton at the end of May, has signed a three-year contract with the club.

Molby took over at Boothferry Park last season after overseeing Kidderminster Harriers' rise from the Nationwide Conference to the Football League.

City chairman Adam Pearson said: "Unfortunately is has not worked out. Results have not been good enough and Jan has left the club.

After Saturday's defeat against Kidderminster, City's fourth game without a win, Molby questioned the desire of some of his players.

He said: "Some of the players I have inherited, and some that I've brought in, aren't winners. I'll certainly battle on because I have a lot of pride."
