I WOULD like to congratulate Mike Davis, Highways Partnership manger, and Coun Tom Wells from their efforts in at last reducing the lanes through Hospital Lane traffic signals.
This measure will put a stop to the idiots, who in the past have been hell bent on accelerating away at speed from the traffic signals and then forcing other drivers to brake abruptly in order that these overtaking drivers can get back into a single lane when the lane they have been travelling runs out. These types of overtakers do not have the patience and courtesy to follow in a line of traffic.
Regarding numerous complaints that highways authorities get when there is a serious road accident blaming them about road warning signs etc, I think our roads have adequate signs and markings.
It does not matter how many signs are erected, there are always persons who ignore them and drive at speeds not conducive to the nature of the road. There is nothing wrong with speed, provided it is carried out in the right places. There would not be so many crashes if drivers drove in a more defensive manner.
MR H DEAKIN, Churchill Drive, Malvern.
