TWO men accused of plotting to contaminate HP Bulmers cider - the makers of Strongbow - will stand trial next year.
Michael Hancocks, aged 62, of Hereford and Richard Gay, 50, of Tyseley, Birmingham, are charged with conspiracy to contaminate goods.
Hancocks, formerly of Bishop's Frome, appeared alone in the dock at Bristol Crown Court during a pre-trial hearing on Monday (October 7)
His barrister, Simon Worlock, told the court: "My client intends to plead, and has always pleaded, not guilty."
The trial date for both men was set for April 7 next year at Bristol Crown Court. It is expected to last five weeks.
A third man, Paul Harris, 41, of Hereford, has already pleaded guilty to a charge of conspiracy and will be sentenced after the trial.
At an earlier hearing, he admitted conspiracy to contaminate goods with intent to cause economic loss at the company factory in Hereford between August 31, 2001, and April 5, this year.
Hancock and Gay are both on bail.
