MALVERN choirgirl Alison Sawers will make her pitch for the BBC Radio 2's Young Choristers of the Year title in London tomorrow (Saturday).
The 15-year-old from Wykewane, who has been a Priory Chorister for seven years, will be up against a trio of female adversaries from East Sussex, County Durham and Yorkshire at the final in All Souls' Church.
Alison, an Alice Ottley School pupil, recorded her entry in Malvern Priory in July, singing two verses of the hymn When Gilds the Sky and Pie Jesu from Requiem by John Rutter. She was told she had reached the last 25 in August and clinched a final place last month.
"I will be nervous when I get there but at the moment I'm trying not to think about it," said Alison
If she wins, Alison will receive a trophy, £500 for herself and £1,000 for her choir. The final will be broadcast on Radio 2 on October 20 at 8pm.
