FINISHING touches are being put to the Pepperpot Players' latest production, Outside Edge, which runs from Thursday (October 17).

A comedy based on cricket, it tells the story of the intertwined loves and tribulations of a local team and their wives and girlfriends.

Director Tom Clapton said his cast had given him a few nervous moments but he was confident the final production would be a good one.

"We've got a good motto that everything will be alright on the night and it always is," he said. "I've got a good cast and I'm sure they'll do me proud."

Mr Clapton said the production had the potential to be "the best thing I've done" in his 18 years with the amateur outfit.

Performances run from Thursday to Saturday (October 17-19), in the Memorial Hall, on Old Street, at 7.30pm. Tickets, are £3.50, available on 01684 594317, from PS Presents, Old Street, or on the door.
