TEWKESBURY swimmer, 13-year-old Shevaun Pocock, ignored a chest infection to take her tally to give gold medals in the Tewkesbury Club Championships.

In a competitive age group including Lauren Blake, Jenny McEvoy and Kara Ewers, Shevaun added to her titles by taking the 100m fly in 1.18.83 and the 100m backstroke in 1.17.83.

Joanne Bentley (10) took her tally to five gold and broke her third club record when taking the 100m backstroke in 1.33.37.

Also taking five gold medals was Chris Yoxall (13) and he set a new best time in the medley by taking Craig Openshaw's record in a time of 1.05.41.

Hannah Healey (16) also took her fifth title and had some exciting races with 17-year-old Siobhan Walsh who trains out of Bath University.

The latter took the open age gold medal but failed by 200ths of a second to beat Beth Elliott's record in the 100m backstroke.

Also taking five titles was 16-year-old Sebastian Nicholson and the emerging 12-year-old Maria Holloway.

David Clift from Bredon who trains at Exeter University took three titles and on the way was involved in a photo finish with Yoxall in the 100m medley.

Another emerging talent is 12-year-old Lewis Cole from Gloucester who took double gold in the 100m fly and back only to be beaten into second place in the medley by rival Philip Bluck.

Other rivals in the ten-year-old group are William Gibney who took two in the 100m medley and backstroke.

Last but not least comes eight-year-old Madeline Leitch who made it four out of four when taking the 25m fly and 25m backstroke, a feat also equalled by eight-year-old Craig Skinner.

The swimmers now eagerly await Block Three when all events will be sprints on October 19 and the open meet at Worcester on October 26 and 27.
