TOMORROW (Saturday, October 12) is the auction sale for Staunton Church, starting at 1pm, at the school. Viewing will be from 10.30am and taking in on Friday, October 11, from 4.30-7.30pm. Refreshments and programme.

Local bell ringers were welcomed to the parish church of St James, Staunton, on Sunday when they rang the bells before the harvest festival service. The church was looking its best with all the lovely arrangements of garden flowers in all their glorious colours including many varieties of Michaelmas daisies. All had been so freely given by parishioners. Canon John Evans conducted the service and the lessons were read by John Luard and the offertory was taken by Audrey Smith and Margaret Barclay. The organist Esme Jones accompanied the singing of the well loved harvest hymns.

A traditional harvest lunch was served in the church and very much enjoyed. Thank you to all who gave flowers and those who arranged them and to all members of the PCC who prepared and served the lunch.
