THE death of a much respected Bromesberrow leader of the community Ken Beach was heard with deep regret in the village in which he had played such a part of for a great many years.

Mr Beach had been a member of the Parish Council since 1974 and its chairman until 1995. He had a reputation for cautious judgement and a keen eye for detail and was particularly noted for his fiscal prudence. He will be greatly missed. His funeral took placed at Bromesberrow St Mary's Church followed by interment in the churchyard.

A general meeting of Bromesberrow Parish Council will be held on Tuesday, October 15, at 7.30pm when Mr Richard Stagg of the Forest of Dean District Council will give an explanation of planning decisions. Before the meeting at 7pm there will be a half hour parish meeting when parishioners views are being sought on whether they wish changes to be made to current electoral boundaries. All electors have a voice and a vote and electors' views are extremely important because decisions will be based on your views and these will have a major impact on the parish. Refreshments will be provided.

The Parish Council's campaign to improve road safety has resulted in a 30mph speed limit and a new road surface and road markings in the Heath. More recently, the council's road safety committee has had "slow" signs and junction warning signs installed on the A417 either side of the junction with Beach Lane and Woodend Street. The lay-by at Dyke House lane will be partly re-surfaced soon.
