INTEREST in the 15th Bewdley Festival - and the fringe events - is hotting up with "something for everyone" on offer.

This year the afternoon events, introduced seven years ago to attract a wider audience, are in such demand the main venue has been switched to the Baptist Church - more than doubling capacity to about 200 seats.

Daytime fare includes a classical concert by Old Friends Reunite, who will perform works by Bach, Mozart and Brahms among others from 2.30pm on Sunday at St Anne's Church Centre.

Festival spokeswoman Carole Swingler said the evening line-up has gone from strength to strength as well.

"It is more popular than ever. We feel we've got more big names than ever before.

"It's been really interesting how quickly shows like Tony Benn and Roy Hunt sold."

The fringe - which comprises about 30 events - is also drawing attention.

"It's huge this year. People organise it themselves but we give it publicity," said Mrs Swingler.

"Quite a few events are free and we feel it's a terrific complement to the festival."

One of the most lively acts will be ACE Dance and Music's High Spirits dance project.

Children from 10 to 18 to can join in three 7pm workshops at Bewdley High School from Monday until Wednesday exploring various styles of black dance before putting a short performance on at 7.30pm on Friday.
