Pershore II 26pts, Hereford III 38

AN ENTERTAINING game between Pershore's second string and Hereford's third team saw the visitors start the better and give their opponents an indication of the fire power early on by going over for the first of the afternoon's ten tries.

Pershore responded positively through their forwards, who gave their backs a good platform to work from.

Sid Hirons kept good control over the game plan for Pershore which allowed the forwards to make space for the backs to capitalise on with tries by Tom Fergusson and Damian Hanson, both of which were converted by James Martin to give Pershore a 14-5 lead.

Hereford pulled a try back against the run of play and the game now was flowing from end to end.

It was from a good position on the Hereford 22-metre line that Pershore produced a classic handling move to allow Andy Tilbury to go over for a third try which Martin converted for a 21- 12 lead.

Yet again Hereford came back just before half-time with two scores for a 24-21 lead.

Tim Wall on the left wing then danced his way over the line to put Pershore ahead again by two points.

Hereford were being put under severe pressure but they managed to clear their line on numerous occasions and they went on to score two more tries following interceptions by their backs in their own half to record a 38-26 win.

Fine performances were again noted from the younger members of the Pershore side namely Damian May, Greg Shaw, James Martin and Damian Hanson.
