THE launch by Worcestershire County Council next week of an Evesham and Pershore Over 50s Forum has been welcomed by Evesham and District Pensioners Association.

The launch takes place at Wychavon Civic Centre, Pershore, next Tuesday between 11am and 1pm. There will also be over 25 information stalls from local groups, free internet access and free refreshments.

The Forum will be an independent organisation run by and for people over 50 and it will aim to be an effective and representative group, promoting the views of older people on issues that concern them.

Fred Kaler, chairman of EDPA, said: "We have been actively involved in the steering committee. We are eager to attract as many older people as possible to this event."

Councillor Liz Eyre, county spokesman for social services, said: "I am so pleased that at last older people are finding a voice." The Forum has the backing of South Worcestershire Primary Care Trust and Wychavon District Council as well as the county council.
