MYSTERY surrounds why a man, found hanged from a tree, killed himself.
Fifty-eight-year-old divor-cee Trevor Young was discovered by the River Severn in Stourport last month by walker Robert Taylor.
Mr Young, who took voluntary retirement as a maintenance worker at Kiddermin-
ster's British Sugar factory five years ago, lived alone at his Dowles Road flat in the town.
At the Stourport inquest into his death on Tuesday, Worcestershire coroner Victor Round said Mr Young did not appear to have any serious medical or financial problems and no suicide note had been found.
"His daughter visited him at home on September 15 and he seemed fine," said Mr Round who recorded a verdict that Mr Young took his own life.
Mr Young's former wife, Cheryl Young, said he had never harmed himself before and he had never talked about it to anyone she knew.
No alcohol was found in Mr Young's blood.
The coroner added: "I've no reason to suspect the involvement of anyone else. I've no reason to think he wanted to be found and saved like in a "cry for help" situation.
"I am satisfied that he did this to himself. I think he must have intended it.
"For some reason that none of us have heard or been told about, he took his own life. The reason is a mystery to everybody."
