ROWING: Bewdley Rowing Club started the winter season with five victories at the first Head of the River race in Monmouth.
Dave Merchant secured a win in the men's junior 18 single sculls as did Lewis Beech in the junior 15 category.
Beech then raced to a comfortable win with Richard Jackson above their age-group in junior 18 double sculls.
John Fazackerly, Paul Warnett, Simon Perkins and Bruce Bosworth, coxed by Jenny Merchant, recorded a victory in veteran D fours.
The four joined Steve Brazier, Daryl Beech, Jim Nightingale and Jeremy Rogers, this time coxed by Miles Banks, to take the veteran D eights easily.
