YOUNGSTERS at Broadheath Primary School spent the day scouring the countryside for hedgehogs and other tiny animals as part of a special eco-day.
Pupils followed clues on a trail at Broadheath Church, while others took part in earth walks and pond dipping organised by the Duckworth Trust.
Alison Tibble, deputy headmistress of the school at Lower Broadheath, said staff are determined to ensure pupils are ecologically aware.
"The day was a great success," said Mrs Tibble. "We're planning similar events and are very grateful to the Duckworth Trust.
"It helped us to organise recycling activities and an earth walk which took place on the playground and school field."
