AMAZING how many flowers and shrubs are blooming in September. The members listened entranced to Elaine Horton talking about and showing her beautiful flowers grown on Tin Penny Farm on the borders of Oxfordshire. Her love of tall stately plants was obvious and a few waving stalks could be seen progressing along the lanes of Chaddesley, as members had succumbed to temptation and purchased some bargains.
Today (Wednesday) we are delighted to welcome Martin Rickard, founder of Rickard's Fern Nursery. Martin has been winning the Gold Medal at Chelsea and many other shows for years. He will be showing slides and sharing his amazing knowledge of his subject with us. He is full of tales about Chelsea and the personalities who visit the prestigious show, so come and join us for another action packed evening.
Many of our bulbs should now be safely planted for our spring enjoyment and although most of our time is spent collecting leaves, don't forget to divide the perennial herbaceous plants and share them with your friends. Bring your surplus plants and vegetables to the trade stand. Visitors are always welcome. We meet at Chaddesley Corbett Village Hall at 7.30pm for coffee before the meeting. For more information, please call Judy Berrow on 01562 777014.
