AT the September meeting, following the AGM and election of officers, the first speaker of the society's 30th season was Malcolm Atkins - from the county archaeology department.
The title of his talk was Death, Dung and Disease - not a very pleasant subject one might think - being concerned with the most common causes of death in Medieval times, and how it was gradually realised that there was a link between insanitary living conditions and the spread of disease. However, Mr Atkins gave a most interesting, entertaining and lighthearted description of life and death in the Middle Ages, illustrated with a number of interesting slides.
The next meeting will be next Monday at 7.45pm at Cofton Hackett Village Hall, when Dr Chris Upton will speak on the pitfalls of public art.
