DROITWICH Spa RFC lost their third Midlands Four West (South) league game on the bounce last Saturday with a disappointing 27-15 home defeat by Kings Norton.

Spa conceded a try within seconds of the start and were on the back foot from then on, eventually trailing 20-0 at the break.

Frustration is the name of the game at the moment for director of rugby Julian Bailey as he watched his side let themselves down.

"I was very disappointed with the performance, "he said. "I know they can play better than that and they know they can do a lot better and that's frustrating.

"We created plenty of opportunities but we didn't finish them off. We had three opportunities in the first ten minutes to score and we just didn't finish them off.

"It's easy to turn around and say we have some guys missing through injury but we seem to be lacking a bit of pace."

Droitwich were in trouble from the off when they failed to gather the kick off. The ball was scrambled back to Simon Mountjoy who saw his kick charged down for the opposition to score.

Spa's first half display lacked any fluidity or passion and they trailed 20-0 at the break.

The second half saw Spa improve but it was not enough as they chased the game. On a number of occasions Droitwich did break clear but were unable to make good any chances.

Time and again second phase possession was turned over, making scoring opportunities scarce although Nick Godfrey did power over for Matt Blackmore to convert. Blackmore added a penalty and Mountjoy scored a late consolation try.

Godfrey and Blackmore worked tirelessly while Greg Garfield added much needed solidity to the pack.

The Seconds won the reverse fixture 39-12.

Winger Jamie Faulkener scored four tries, with Steve Poke, Mike Hobbs and Andrew Manns scoring one apiece.

Droitwich travel to Edwardians this Saturday and Bailey knows it won't get any easier.

He added: "They are a good side.

"We need to be on top of our game to stand any chance of coming away with a win."
