BROMSGROVE RFC First XV's injury crisis appears to be on the road to recovery with several key players in line for a return to action this weekend.

Tom Churchill, Ian Young and Matt Birch are all expected to pull on shirts for this Saturday's Midlands One match with Whitchurch at Finstall Park (3pm) while Mark Cornelius and Ben Eason could also be back in the squad.

One player though who will not be lining up against Whitchurch is Dan Ott.

He had his ear ripped in half in Bromsgrove's last game against Dunstablians and needs at least two or three weeks to make a full recovery.

The week off, due to scheduled opponents Spalding's cup commitments last Saturday, appear to have done David Stout's side the world of good.

"It's definitely been a help," he said. "Sometimes you need games to keep the momentum up but given the injuries we have had, it never does anybody any harm to have a week off."

But not everyone is back to full fitness. There are still doubts over Adrian Parsons, suffering with a knee injury, while Colin Morley needs to prove his fitness.

Saturday will also see Stout give a debut to Richard Trigg, signed from Stourbridge, on the left flank to strengthen the squad.

Although not quite at full strength, the coach is confident

Stout said: "We will be close to our full side and we will be a stronger team both mentally and in ability.

"They are one of the better sides in the league. They beat Dunstablians last week (Saturday), a result you have to sit up and respect. Therefore we don't expect anything other than a hard game."
