DROITWICH Spa Cricket Club paid tribute to their chairman, Brian Bradbury, at their recent annual awards event.

Following his death in June this year, the club honoured Brian at their end-of-season finale by renaming their most prestigious award after him.

His involvement with Droitwich CC began in 1981, when he moved into the area with his family and sons, James and Steve, joined the club.

After initially helping out with the youth teams, Brian went on to be appointed chairman in the late eighties.

Much of the club's advancements can be attributed to the hard work and dedication that Brian put in behind the scenes.

His wit and wisdom are sorely missed by everyone connected with the club.

It was quite fitting that Brian's widow, Audrey, was on hand to present the inaugural 'Brian Bradbury Clubman of the Year Award' to Karl Goddard in recognition of his efforts as youth coach.

During a successful evening at The Copcut, the other winners were:

First team player of the year: Mike Rogers, most runs: Stuart Bryan; most wickets Adrian Field.

Second team player of the year: Brian Gunston; most runs: Brian Gunston , most wickets: Antony Small.

Third team player of the year: Graham Smith; most runs: Neil Williams; most wickets: Alan Breakwell. U18: Alex Kolb

A special award was also presented to Simon Holliday in recognition of 15 years' captaincy of Spa's Sunday third team.
