FUND-raising for a new children's hospice has hit the £1.75m mark thanks to generous donations from people throughout Worcestershire and Herefordshire.
After a record-breaking month for Acorns Children's Hospice Trust, September's total boosted the charity's coffers by a massive £450,000.
A total of £4m is needed to build and equip the new hospice, earmarked for Worcester's Bath Road.
"In terms of community fund-raising, September has been our best month so far," said Fran Winterbourn, community fund-raising co-ordinator at Acorns.
"It's really encouraging to see donations rising substantially across Worcestershire, Herefordshire and Gloucestershire.
Worcestershire activities raised £47,532.06 and Herefordshire people clocked up £29,598.83.
A £15,000 legacy was granted from an anonymous Herefordshire-donor, and a £25,000 and £50,000 donation handed over.
"More and more people recognise the difference the new hospice will make to local children with life-limiting conditions and their families right across the region," added Mrs Winterbourn.
"We've had some big fund-raising events during the last month and have got some really exciting events planned in the lead up to Christmas.
"We still need more fund-raisers and events, however, to help us reach our target.
"The new hospice will provide much-needed help and support for the many local families who are struggling, often on their own, with caring for a life-limited child."
People with a taste for adventure are invited to sign up for a trek though China's Three Gorges, a cycle trip in Europe and a Three Counties Walk.
Fund-raisers can also help by staying closer to home with concerts, music hall evenings and fun days.
