A CONMAN has stolen £180 after forcing his way into the home of a Worcester pensioner.

The raider called at the house in St George's Lane North, at 12.10pm yesterday, saying he was from the council.

He showed the elderly man a red and white identity card, but when the man questioned it, the stranger pushed his way in.

Once inside the house, the bogus caller searched one of the rooms before making off with £180 in cash.

The offender is described as white 5ft 8in tall and well-spoken, but did not have a Worcester accent.

He was clean shaven with short, thinning, mousy hair, and is in his mid to late 30s.

He was wearing light coloured trousers and a cream Arran pullover. He was carrying a small suitcase.

Anyone with information about the incident should call Worcester police on 01905 723888.
