A FATHER lost two teeth after a family came out of their home to complain about midnight noise, a jury heard.

Three men had gone to Orchid Court, Malvern, to question resident Scott Willis about a romance he was accused of having with one of the trio's girlfriends, it was alleged

But when Mr Willis, fearing he was going to be beaten up, locked his flat door, kicks were rained on it which disturbed a neighbouring family on the ground floor.

Prosecutor David Iles said the trio "tanked up on beer meted out gratuitous violence" to Alan Dean, in his 50s, and his son Jason.

Mr Dean, who came out in his pyjamas, had two front teeth knocked out and injuries to his head, knees and back.

His son suffered injuries to his face, a hand and back. His mother Lesley, clad in a nightdress, was hit by a woman with the trio - all from Malvern - and blood splattered the wall of their block of flats, Worcester Crown Court was told.

Darren Smith, aged 21, of Kipling Close, Simon Box, 29, of Ford Close, and Martin Boshell, also 29, of Bluebell Close, deny affray.

Mr Iles said the victims were about to retire to bed when the noise made them go outside on September 2 last year. When they complained about the racket, they were assaulted with fists, kicks and a weapon.

Smith told police the family had attacked them and he acted in self defence. Boshell also claimed the Deans were the aggressors but could not explain their injuries.

Box insisted they went to see Mr Willis to buy cannabis, but Jason Dean grabbed Smith and his father armed himself with a knife or screwdriver.

Giving evidence, Mr Willis, 27, denied any relationship with Smith's girlfriend and said he was at home with his own girlfriend Susan Franklin and her son when the trio knocked.

He was repeatedly asked to go outside, but locked the door and put his back to it as it was kicked.

Mr Willis said the trio left when they heard him phone police and he then saw the Deans being attacked through his window.

At one point Alan Dean was lying on the ground with his head hitting a wall as Smith and Boshell kicked him.

The trial continues.
