THE recent earthquake has prompted a Bromsgrove district councillor to try and improve emergency communication.
Cllr Bill Newnes (Lab - Catshill) said he spent 15 minutes on the telephone trying to contact emergency services after the earthquake.
"With this and the September 11 tragedy still fresh in people's minds, we need to look at different ways of getting information across," he said.
"Perhaps the phones could be linked to a pre-recorded message explaining the situation."
He has tabled the issue for discussion at a future meeting.
