REGARDING the recent countryside march, I think that there are some genuine rural problems - such as affordable housing, public transport and village amenities - but regrettably the tally-ho brigade hijacked the event, because they probably know that their barbaric pursuit is a lost cause.
I suppose on the Monday after the march, the well-heeled left their luxurious rural homes in smart expensive cars to go to work in the city or company offices. Meanwhile, the village poor, pensioners and the unemployed waited for the daily bus to travel to the nearest post office to draw their benefit or sign on at the job centre.
Young couples cannot afford living in the village of their birth, because their rich neighbours are instrumental in raising the property prices. So much for the great solidarity of the countryside march.
