A PENSIONER is pleading for sharp-eyed people to help her find a locket which has great sentimental value to her.

The gold locket, which had a picture of Betty Griffiths' late husband inside, was given to her after an elderly aunt died,

Mrs Griffiths has worn the locket round her neck for the last five years.

But when she went shopping in Blackpole in the summer she returned home to find it had fallen off the chain around her neck.

"I was by the Blackpole estate car park when it must have happened," said the 70-year-old.

"I felt terribly upset when I got home to discover it had gone as it was something I'd loved."

Mrs Griffiths asked a security man in a hut near the car park if he had seen anything.

"He said he remembered a lady in a Range Rover car who said she had found a locket," said Mrs Griffiths. "But he said he could not keep it and told her to hand it into the police station."

Mrs Griffiths said when she went to Worcester Police Station it had not been handed in.

Mrs Griffiths, who has four children and six grandchildren said the locket was an oval shape with criss-cross markings on it.

"It looks Victorian," said Mrs Griffiths, from Broadfield Crescent, Fernhill Heath, Worcester.

"The picture was of my husband Max just before he died."

Mrs Griffiths believes the locket was lost between Monday, August 19, and Wednesday August 21.
