LEOMINSTER MP Bill Wiggin has travelled to the Middle East to talk about war in Iraq - and claims the views of the Arab world aren't that different from the West's.
Mr Wiggin was among a special Conservative Party delegation that visited Bahrain and met the country's Prime Minister and King.
The delegation had two main objectives - to discuss the threat of war and to observe the preparations for the forthcoming election, the first fully democratic secret ballot to take place in an Arab state.
"With the threat of war mounting, it was important to listen to the Arab people," said Mr Wiggin.
"They are likely to be on the receiving end of Iraqi hostilities and, understandably, had very mixed views about the dictator, just as we do.
"They feel that, like us, war should be avoided if possible, but that Saddam Hussein does pose a real and significant threat.
"They also feel the Palestinian crisis is more relevant to the war on terrorism than the threat from Iraq."
