A WORCESTER schoolgirl may be forced to miss lessons because her mother is struggling to take her and her sister to different schools.

Every day Helen Booton has to get five-year-old Emily Adcock to Cherry Orchard Primary School in Timberdine Avenue.

But at the same time, her six-year-old sister Lauren has to be at Broadheath CE Primary School, in Lower Broadheath.

Until now her partner and grandmother have helped with the transport but it is taking its toll.

"It's coming to the point where she (Emily) can't go to school," said Ms Booton, who lives in Jacomb Road, Lower Broadheath.

"My partner has to leave early and I can't get Emily to school. I live in the village and have no transport of my own."

Ms Booton's grandmother, Anne Hartland, drives from her Warndon home to collect Emily from school every day.

"There's no way I can keep driving all that way, especially with winter coming," said Mrs Hartland.

"It's quite a strain on my granddaughter, she can't be in two places at once."

Ms Booton moved from Lower Broadheath to Worcester after she split up with her partner.

The two girls were both given places at Cherry Orchard Primary School before the couple were reunited and Ms Booton moved back to Lower Broadheath.

But only Lauren was given a place at the village school, due to over-subscription.

Emily will not be able to join her until another place becomes vacant.

"She wants to be at the same school as her sister," said Ms Booton.

"But I've told them they're just going to have to put up with it."

Worcestershire County Council said the class had reached its limit of 30 pupils.

"The class is at its maximum legal number," said Mike Ballett, assistant pupils' admissions and transfers officer.

"At the moment all we can do is wait for something to occur, such as other children leaving."
