San Diego-born Joy began his footballing education at Tranmere Rovers but did not make the first team.

After leaving Prenton Park, he moved to Scottish side Stirling Albion and made a couple of substitute appearances before joining Montrose last season.

An American youth international, Joy was a regular for the Third Division strugglers, playing 25 games and scoring two goals.

He spent a trial period with Harriers in the summer of 2001 before agreeing a two-year contract to provide competition for regular left-back Scott Stamps.

Joy has impressed when filling in for Stamps and has also been selected to train for USA U-23s.
