A SCHEME that helps tenants from Hereford and Worcester to buy a first home is expanding.
Festival Housing Group, the region's leading landlord, operates the Homebuy initiative which gives housing association and council tenants a helping hand on to the property ladder.
The scheme works by offering a Government-funded loan which is only repayable when the house is sold or if the homeowner chooses to pay off the outstanding loan on the property.
The Malvern-based group has now expanded the operation to cover the whole of the two counties.
"Council or housing association tenants who cannot afford to buy a property without financial help are eligible - it is an excellent way of helping them to bridge the gap between income and the rising cost of houses," said Karen Laydon, the scheme's administrator.
