A RARE Worcester two shilling token will be among the many treasures on sale at a ceramics fair later this month.

The event will feature a wide range of artefacts from every period and style from more than 30 exhibitors from around the country.

The token, which dates from 1768-75 and is painted in underglaze blue, is being offered for £5,000.

The Ceramics for Everyone Fair will be held at Worcester racecourse from Friday, October 18 to Sunday, October 20.

"In the past six months we have been approached by a number of leading ceramics specialists who regularly exhibit at our NEC fairs with a view to specialised fairs around the country," said NEC fair director Fran Foster.

"The NEC has a strong friendship with Royal Worcester.

"Worcester is an ideal location that is well know to ceramic collectors and a non-stop shuttle service will run between the fair and Royal Worcester."

Amanda Savidge, of the Royal Worcester visitor centre, said it was delighted to be working with Ms Foster.

"The fair offers the perfect opportunity for collectors to purchase exquisite antiques," she said.
