A HISTORIC home in Cofton Hackett will be the venue for a free medieval banquet being thrown by Christians who want more people to develop their faith.

The Parish of Cofton Hackett and Barnt Green wants to entice people to join its alpha course, which will run through the autumn.

Interested folk are being invited to attend Cofton Hall, home to the Cornerstone Community, which boasts a fascinating medieval banqueting hall.

The Cofton Church Lane site was almost destroyed when King Charles I ordered the manor to be burnt down during the Civil War.

Fortunately the hall was saved and on Friday, September 27, it's the venue to an alpha supper, where people will be introduced to the courses available and can enjoy free food and live music.

Rev Rob Fieldson, the vicar at St Andrew's Church, in Barnt Green and St Michael's Church, in Cofton Hackett, said: "We have been running alpha courses for the last six years and they have helped lots of people grow in faith."
