THE identity of Bidford's new community beat officer has been revealed.
PC Pete Gateley, who is currently based at Alcester, has been announced as the successor to retiring officer PC Peter Batacanin, who steps down at the end of October after 20 years of service to the village. What is more likely to appease residents is that PC Gateley could well be based in Bidford as Warwickshire Police are looking into the possibility of providing an office at the new library. Inspector Tim Bailey said: "Peter has now started a handover package and villagers will soon get to meet him."
