MAY I express my most sincere thanks to all those - and they are many - who contributed to the undoubted success of this year's Three Choirs Golden Jubilee Fringe Festival.

There has been an enormous accumulation of effort, not only from throughout the city but also throughout the county. The overall public reaction has been truly rewarding.

To select individuals in this context would of course be invidious, but I must and do record my special appreciation to the editorial team at the Evening News who, since we began back in mid-June, have previewed and reviewed events initially in a daily column and latterly a full daily page.

Your support has been invaluable, not only in bringing the festival to all but also in ensuring that so many people were involved.

This will be the last occasion on which I will be responsible for the Three Choirs Fringe, but I would like to wish Chris Jaeger, the Director of Huntingdon Hall, well with the new annual Worcester Festival which, beginning next year, is to grow from our endeavours and which will also form the Three Choirs Fringe in 2005.

PAUL VAUGHAN,

Director, Three Choirs Jubilee Fringe Festival.
