RECOLLECTIONS of former pupils of a Pershore school who had died during the Second World War have led to a roll of honour in their memory.

Pershore High School - previously Pershore County Senior School - celebrated its 70th anniversary earlier this year.

Many of the ex-pupils who attended a reunion to mark the anniversary were aged over 80 and their main topic of conversation was "absent friends" - those who had been killed in military engagements.

That prompted the school's current headteacher, Clive Corbett, to try and trace details of former pupils who had died serving their country, so the roll of honour could be compiled. It is hoped the roll will be in place in the school by this year's Remembrance Day.

Anyone who lost a relative or friend who attended the school during World War Two is being asked to contact Mr Corbett on 01386 552471.
