MEMBERS travelled to Wakefield to compete in the NJAA National Championships on the Calder and Hebble Canal.

The two teams fished well against come of the best Canal teams in the north and earned excellent team and individual placings.

Mark Williams finished third overall, while Dave Smith and Craig Bennett finished eighth and ninth from a field of 64 anglers.

LAST weekend's Stillwater Series match fished at Blackpole saw John Davis take top spot.

The winner netted skimmers and perch on pole to caster bait to weigh in at 2.15.8 and edge out Graham Mytton on a day when boat traffic was quite heavy in the morning which caused anglers problems.

Result: 1 J Davis 2.15.8; 2 G Mytton 1.14.0. Section A: Barry Stayte 1.12.8. Section B: Martin Hunt 1.6.0.

This Sunday's fixture sees a first ever visit to the River Stour where fishing in a prize match will take place at Hawford Bridge near Shipston-on-Stour.

Members uncertain of directions are asked to meet at Merstow Green at 6.15am.

FOR the first match in the Autumn series 14 members turned up at Smith's Lake, nr Stratford on Sunday.

The unseasonal hot weather made fishing slow, but plenty of fish were eventually put on the scales.

Leading the club home was Rob Lake who netted a fine mixed bag of fish weighing 6.3.0 from peg eight. Second place was taken by Bill Scarrott from peg ten with 5.10.0 and in joint third place was Neil Hards and Frank Lake (4.13.0).

Members unsure of the way to Loxley on Sunday are asked to contact the club secretary soonest.

Evesham WMC

WORKIES were at Cleeve Prior on the Avon last Sunday when fishing didn't live up to expectations.

Nat Protherough only needed 2.3.0 of roach to win ahead of R Locke (1.10.8) and Andy Hammerton (1.10.0).

The next match saw the Workies fishing the last round of the Stillwater Series at Hillview Nursery Lakes.

After a slow start fish started to feed and Shaun Barber finished first with 33.4.0 of carp on the pole. Second was J Drew (30.8.0) and third Stuart Robinson (27.14.0).

League standings: 1 J Drew 102pts; 2 M Woods 95; 3 S Robinson 87.

The next match is at Cropthorne, draw at 7pm.
