A PUBLIC exhibition of an amended scheme for the Gordon Russell site in Broadway is being planned for the end of this month.

Developer Chase Homes has already withdrawn two planning applications following fierce opposition from villagers.

Now the company has submitted a further application to Wychavon District Council, which includes more than twice as much commercial floor space. Also included is a museum and meeting room, a food shop, and the opportunity for a doctor's or dentist's surgery and a parish council meeting room.

Senior conservation officer at Wychavon District Council, Mike Harris said: "There are 78 houses planned instead of 79 with 26 of these sheltered and affordable housing. There is also an increased from 677 square meters to 1,565 square metres of commercial floor space."

Broadway parish council clerk, Don Shryane said: "Councillors met on Monday to discuss the plans but we will be reserving our comments until after the public meeting."

Technical design manager for Chase Homes, Andy Plant said: The exhibition is being planned for the last week in September in the former Gordon Russell building. Everyone will have the chance to comment."
