CHADDESLEY Corbett opened their season with a convincing 32-0 friendly win over local rivals Kidderminster Carolians thirds.
But they were disappointed when KCs failed to bring enough experienced front-row players, meaning scrums were uncontested.
The village side were looking to use the match as a good work-out before the league starts next Saturday.
In a game played in both sunshine and torrential rain, Chaddesley dominated the early play with strong running and clever kicking.
Their early pressure was rewarded when Phil Page landed a penalty awarded for offside.
Chaddesley stretched their lead midway through the half with Page kicking a penalty try after Mark Hackett had been tackled off-the-ball.
KCs hit back but did not create chances against a well-organised defence, while Page ran in a second try from a quick penalty to make the score 17-0 at half-time.
Only a combination of poor and dropped passes prevented an in-control Chaddesley from scoring more tries.
Andy Smith followed up a kick ahead to score in the corner and, as the forwards kept making strong runs, scrum-half and skipper Carl Booth added two late tries.
Meanwhile, Chaddesley are running a junior and mini section with U-13s and U-7s side along with a mixed eight, nine and 10-year-old group.
Any youngsters interested in playing rugby can go along on Sunday mornings to the club in Fox Lane between 10.30am and noon.
