SEPTEMBER 11 was especially poignant for children and staff at Abbey Park First School in Pershore.
They have an American teacher, Donna Jeffers, from California, with them on an exchange visit with Jackie Roe who has gone from the school to California.
Acting head Angela Beddow said: "Because we have Miss Jeffers here the whole of our year is going to have an American theme and this Service of Remembrance was part of it.
"We had pictures of our teacher on the wall, the Stars and Stripes and the Union Jack were flown, the children dressed in red, white and blue, and children from Miss Jeffers' class sang the American hymn 'My Country 'tis of Thee,' which they had learned.
"The service was particularly poignant. It brought it home to Miss Jeffers, who was missing her family.
