Romulus 2, Pershore Town 2

PERSHORE Town are showing a vast improvement after collecting seven points from their last three Icis Midland Combination Premier Division matches, including Saturday's match at Sutton Coldfield.

Romulus went ahead in the 14th minute when Stuart Davies headed home the opener from a right wing cross.

Seven minutes later, Simon Brain's drive was partly cleared for Lee Tustin to drive in the equaliser - his fifth goal in seven outings.

On 33 minutes, Romulus could have taken the lead again when Antony Briscoe rode a tackle by Paul Concannon but hit wide from only ten yards.

In the 55th minute Town's Tony McLean was fouled on the edge of the box and Brain fired the visitors in front with an excellent curling free kick into the top corner.

Six minutes later it was all-square again as Matthew Hawker cut in from the left wing to fire in the equaliser.

Town were in front again in the 76th minute when left-sided midfielder Chris Allen played the pass for Tony McLean to sidestep his marker and stroke the ball past diving keeper Derek Dudley.

On 83 minutes Allen was again involved as his goalbound effort was handled by a defender, who received his marching orders. Brain stepped up to perfectly place home the penalty kick.

Nigel Russell's side added another point to their tally after a 1-1 draw at Coleshill on Tuesday.

Lee Tustin had an early effort ruled out for offside but Town did take the lead after 20 minutes when Tony McLean lobbed the home keeper.

Opposite number Barry McLean made a couple of fine stops to preserve the advantage but he was unable to prevent a home equaliser six minutes after the break.

The club are on the lookout for a fixtures secretary and any one interested is asked to contact Alan Barnett on 01386 860243.
