GOALS from Drew Armstrong and an outstanding volley from Craig Pratt were enough to give Chaddesley Corbett a 2-0 win at Malvern Rangers in West Midlands League Division One South.

Chaddesley returned to the top of the division with the victory after playing some great football in a dominant first half.

Brian Burton saw a 25-yard shot tipped over on 11 minutes, while Alex Taffe, Ashley Phillips, Matt Baynton and Pratt also came close.

The visitors finally took the lead in the 20th minute when Ian Vogel laid the ball off for Armstrong to beat two defenders before shooting home from 20 yards.

Vogel shot over the bar after being put through by Pratt but Chaddesley then extended their lead on the half-hour.

Pratt met Vogel's cross with an unstoppable scorching top-corner volley from the edge of the box.

Chaddesley could have sealed the game before half-time but B Burton's strike hit the post and the final 45 minutes proved to be a more even affair.

Joss Price, man-of-the-match Armstrong and Baynton ensured keeper Gareth Yarsley kept a second clean sheet in three games.

The villagers gave a debut to substitute Russell Wright and he was unlucky not to add to the scoreline.

Chaddesley's players are asked to meet at Brintons at 1.30pm for Saturday's game with Blackheath Town.
