POLICE are warning the public to be on their guard against thieves who steal bank cards and then contact victims trying to secure account information.
Two people in Stourport who had cards taken were contacted within minutes of each other by callers claiming to be from the victims' banks.
Both were asked to confirm their name and address and questioned about account details, but they became suspicious and declined.
The banks concerned have confirmed they were not responsible for the calls.
Victims of card theft are advised to cancel cards immediately and not to answer questions from people purporting to be from banks.
