CHESS: Frank Pickett was crowned Kidderminster Chess Club champion in a presentation evening at the Eagles Nest.
Following success in the group stage and semi-finals, Pickett defeated Gerald Link in the final.
Terry Pountney retained the Graham Bunn Memorial Trophy with a score of 18 points, 3.5 ahead of his nearest rival.
The Shuttle Shield Competition remains undecided but already entries for the 2002-03 event are invited by tournament controller Tim Yates.
Entrants do not have to represent Kidderminster teams in order to qualify - any chess players in Kidderminster and the surrounding areas may enter by telephoning Yates on 01562 66201.
