MY heart goes out to those residents close to the skateboard ramp in the village of Bishampton.
I would be interested to know if the people who campaigned for two years to get the ramp installed, live within earshot of it. I despair of WDC giving our money for installations not wanted by the majority of local residents.
For 16 weeks this summer we have had earth moving plant more suitable for building motorways than in the countryside. The constant 'bleep, bleep' of reversing vehicles and smell of exhaust has invaded us. All this to level an old orchard for a playing field and tennis courts plus of course the car parks, a necessary requirement for local people. Once again WDC has given £20,000. Not everyone in Church Lench wants or needs this facility, for the record, the professional planning officer employed by WDC recommended rejection.
Curiously WDC has given around £2,000 plus an on-going maintenance grant to the owners of an old orchard in Atch Lench in order for this orchard to be preserved.
