THE search for Stourport Swifts' morale-boosting first win of the season continues at Cinderford Town in the Dr Martens Western Division on Saturday.

Swifts have lost four in a row since drawing the opening day clash at Swindon Supermarine, leaking 14 goals in the process.

Their hopes of a cash boost were dashed at the weekend when Alfreton Town dumped Tim Langford's men out of the FA Cup at the preliminary stage.

To make matters worse, Swifts lost wideman Richard Gardner to a hamstring injury that will rule him out for a month.

Swifts went back to basics in training on Tuesday to try and reverse the worrying run of results.

And Langford should have two new signings in the squad for the weekend with ex-Hereford United midfielder John Shirley expected to confirm his arrival today.

The versatile Shirley played 28 games for Hereford in the Conference, scorzing one goal against Margate, before being released at the end of last season.

Attacker Ted Baylis, a former Chaddesley Corbett footballer and current Kidderminster Cricket Club all-rounder, has already joined.

Swifts have another tough task on Tuesday when promotion-chasing Solihull Borough visit Walshes Meadow (7.45pm).
