WEST MIDLAND BIRD CLUB - The Kidderminster branch committee met during the summer and hope to finalise the programme for the season 2002/2003 at its next meeting.
Events will include illustrated talks on birdlife and conservation, ranging from Wyre Forest district local nature reserves to a Polish lane. Outdoor meetings will be mainly to local birdlife habitats, but some visits further afield are also planned.
Woodland area bird watchers have reported a honey buzzard and a family of hobbies. Warblers (including grasshopper warblers), have been abundant on marshlands.
At Wilden, the lagoons are being filled in where, during the summer months, lapwing, ringed plover, little ringed plover, garganey, tufted duck, greenshank, green sandpiper, wood sandpiper and greylag geese have been seen.
The first meeting of the new season will be on Wednesday, September 25 in St Oswald's Church Centre, Kidderminster, starting at 7.30pm.
Non-members are always welcome to meetings, whether indoors or outdoors.
