FORMER Welshpool player Lee Phelp will lead Stourport as they head back to North Midlands One after a league re-shuffle.

Phelp took over from Andy Hubbold, who has enjoyed several years as captain, at the club's annual meeting and ex-Droitwich man Dean Cave was appointed new coach.

Stourport's committee is now chaired by Phil Brown with qualified referee Geoff Murphy the vice-chairman, Richard Gough new club secretary and Steven Griffin the treasurer.

The Wyre Forest club will come up against local rivals Cleobury Mortimer in the division and Cave is confident a good season is ahead.

They were playing in Midlands Four West (South) last season but the rugby pyramid is constantly changing.

Cave feels the solid nucleus of good players can take them forward from a challenging season.

There will be three Stourport teams, with the seconds captained by Owain Butler, and new members are always welcome.

Training is on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at Walshes Meadow in the town.

Cave can be contacted on 01905 21186.
